The property market is still pretty flat, and this means that second time home movers are facing a struggle to move up the housing ladder due to low equity levels. This sector is amongst the hardest hit by the stagnant property market, and the latest figures show there were around 319,000 home movers last year, roughly the same as in 2011. The latest figures from the Land Registry House Index show the price of residential property increased by 0.1% in England and Wales in June compared to May. The average house price is now £161,777. This takes the average annual increase up to 0.9%, although the average price increase in London over the last 12 months is 6.3%.
