Most Britons Dream of a Rural Three-Bedroom Semi-Detached Home

A recent survey by the AA has revealed some surprising results. When asked about their dream home, 18% said it would be either a two or three-bedroom semi-detached home in a rural village. This aspiration is far more attainable than might be expected, and could conceivably be within reach of many people. The second most popular dream home was a detached four or five bedroom house, but just 2% wanted to own a home with six or more bedrooms.

Homes in rural villages proved to be the most popular option, much more so than city suburbs and towns. Living in a rural village also proved to be a more popular choice than living in a coastal village. The least popular option was to live in a city centre, and just 6% of us have this dream. The most popular features in a home are to have a large open plan kitchen diner and living space which is ideal for family life and entertaining. The next most popular item was to have a view, with more people wishing to look out at the countryside instead of the sea.

It's little surprise to learn that 37% of men would love to have a games room, while just 18% of women share this dream. However a lot of people would like grounds for a swimming pool or room to keep livestock.
